Exploding Views
6-Channel Audio Piece, Commissioned for Journeys with the Wasteland at Turner Contemporary, Feb-March-2018
Responding directly to the epigraph for Elliot’s poem this piece uses a small group of recordings relating to the poem itself, these include a disembodied automated voice, crystal rock amplifiers and the sounds of a waste recycling centre. Each short recording goes through a process inspired by the myth of the Sibyl where the material is repeated over and over again, each time undergoing a processing of fragmentation. Like The Sibyl trapped in a feedback loop of eternal life, the sounds never find resolution or nothingness.
