How in the World do We Know? was a collaboration with users of the national deaf-blind charity Sense and was hosted at Park Theatre. The project creatively inquired into the extremes, deficits and vagaries of human auditory and haptic perception. The intention being not merely to recreate aspects of the deafblind experience but to shed light on the intricacies of human perception in general. Collaborators experimented with instruments such as hand-held vibrating metronomes, drum machines, transducers and made local field recordings. Through these rehearsals the group developed a sound work that they performed in a series of public events. Their final improvisations collaged the everyday soundscape of Finsbury Park with the internal sensory landscapes of performers.
The project was commissioned through A Million Minutes and Islington Council
